The UFC tweeted Dana White’s top pound-for-pound mixed martial artists on Tuesday and the biggest surprises were that Ronda Rousey and Cain Velasquez weren’t on the list.
Not surprisingly, at the top of the list was Jon “Bones” Jones, who is coming off a narrow victory over Alexander Gustafsson at UFC 165.
In second place is former middleweight champion Anderson Silva, who was widely regarded as the best in the world prior to his TKO loss to Chris Weidman in July.
The Canadian superhero and welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre was third. Interim bantamweight Champion Renan Barao ranked fourth, followed by featherweight champion Jose Aldo.
The undefeated mauler Rousey isn’t on his list, even though she is the UFC women’s bantamweight champion and has submitted all seven of her opponents by arm bar in the first round. Heavyweight champ Velasquez, who has beaten every man he has ever faced, also wasn’t among the five elite.
