On September 8, the UFC used Twitter to announce that long time lightweight contenders Nate Diaz and Gray Maynard would be meeting for a rubber match at the TUF 18 Finale. Maynard and Diaz have a history, seeing as they both competed on The Ultimate Fighter season 5, with Diaz submitting Maynard in the amateur-category bout.

They fought again in January 2010 and Maynard walked away with the split decision. In September, the aforementioned announcement was made, although shortly after agreeing, Diaz seemingly changed his mind and asked for Pettis instead.

Now it seems he has even more pressing matters to attend to.

We’re assuming he’s kidding, but frankly, it’s Nate Diaz so who knows?
