Jon Jones, Alexander Gustafsson, Renan Barao, and Mitch Gagnon each took home an extra $50,000 in fight night bonuses for their performances at UFC 165 on Saturday night in Toronto, UFC officials announced.
The Jones and Gustafsson title fight was rightfully named the “Fight of the Night,” granting each of them the additional cash. The 25-minute brawl was Jones’s most competitive match up to date, the champ admitted after the fight, with the back-and-forth action ending in a razor-thin unanimous decision in his favor.
Barao, meanwhile, picked up the “Knockout of the Night” award for an incredible spinning-back kick in his bout against Eddie Wineland, while Gagnon won the “Submission of the Night” award, defeating Dustin Kimura with a first-round guillotine choke.
Additionally, UFC officials revealed that the event brought in 15,504 fans for a live gate total of $1.9 million.
