If undefeated lightweight prospect Khabib Nurmagomedov defeats Pat Healy at UFC 165, he believes he has earned a title shot against the winner of Anthony Pettis vs Josh Thompson.
“I’ve got a lot of surprises for this guy,” Nurmagomedov said in an interview with MMAjunkie.com Radio. “I’ve got my own plan, and I’m pretty good at breaking plans as well and breaking guys in the cage.”
“I think I will deserve the title shot, but it’s really up to the UFC to make that decision,” he added. “If they offered me another fight, I definitely wouldn’t mind that, and I’ll go along with it.”
Nurmagomedov has had a hell of a run in the division, racking up 20 straight victories in the past five years. Since debuting in the UFC in 2012, he’s defeated top ranked fighters such as Gleison Tibau, Thiago Tavares, and Abel Trujillo.
Khabib Nurmagomedov and Pat Healy will face off on September 21 at UFC 165.
