The two Klitschko brothers are some of the most dominant athletes in the world, and among the best boxers in the history of the sport. Together, they hold every major heavyweight title in the entire world.
UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones has had his eyes on the boxing ring for quite some time, and has recently become interested in a potential match up with one of the Klitschkos.
“The thought of boxing has become way more real to me,” Jones said in an interview with Fox 11.
When asked about who he’d like to face, Jones replied, “One of the Klitschko brothers.”
“It’s been something I’ve really, really been thinking about and maybe we can entertain that in the future,” he added.
While Jones has become an accomplished stand up technician since his college wrestling days, he might be aiming a bit too high on the food chain. Not only are the Klitschkos heavier fighters, they’ve also spent over 15 years boxing professionally (triple the length of Jones’s MMA career), and are still at the top of their games. Perhaps in another five years or so, the match up might seem a bit more realistic.
Now if one of the Klitschko brothers decided to take a stab at MMA, that’d be a different story.
