Ken Shamrock, Randy Couture, and Frank Shamrock Go after the UFC on Twitter

Ken Shamrock is back in the spotlight, leading a series of tweets blasting the UFC and its president, Dana White. He was recently tweeted a video that highlighted some of low payouts for many of the UFC fighters.

Following this, Randy Couture and Frank Shamrock jumped in, adding their own sentiments.

On Twitlonger, Ken Shamrock added:

“So what your saying is that the fighters did not make the ufc what it is today that disrespectful promoter did all of that wow what a smart guy you are why didn’t I think of that who needs fighters when you can just disrespect the guys who made your promotion and talk trash and make loads of money and not give what is partially the fighters money.”

When asked if a class action lawsuit could be undertaken due to the UFC’s allegedly incorrect financial numbers, Shamrock replied that:

“No the contracts are agreed upon what there are being told what is made. And the numbers that they are being told that is made is no true. At the sometime if one of the fighters want to audit to find out if in fact the numbers are right just look at me that’s what happens when you want to know the truth.”

Dana White has not yet responded to these comments.

Ken Shamrock is right in that it’s all in the contract that the fighters sign so there’s very little that can be done legally. It’s more of a power-struggle between fighters and promoters in regards to fighter pay. MMA is just coming of age after an incredible period of growth in it’s infancy. There has to be some shift towards the fighters or else sooner or later there will be collective bargaining and a revolt. Management and promotions would be smart to do something about it now before it becomes more of an issue and drastic measures are taken.
