Despite still being one of the top female competitors in the world, Megumi Fujii has just one bout left before retirement. As a testament to how incredible of a career she’s had, her last fight won’t be an easy one either, she’ll be looking to avenge her loss to Jessica Aguilar, and reclaim her spot as the top 115 pound female fighter.
Aguilar defeated Fujii at Bellator 69 in a closely contested decision that left fans and analysts divided. Now, Fujii will have a chance to win a rematch and leave the competitive scene as the division’s #1 fighter, a distinction practically no other competitor has held.
The two will compete at Vale Tudo Japan on October 5 in Tokyo.
Megumi Fujii’s career in the sport saw her compile an incredible 22-0 record before dropping a split decision loss to Zoila Frausto Gurgel at Bellator 34. She’s since gone 4-1, with the sole loss being to Aguilar.
She is currently ranked #2 in the female’s strawweight division according to the Unified Women’s MMA Rankings.
