Bellator 102 to Host Middleweight Tournament Semifinals

Bellator has revealed that their season 9 middleweight tournament semifinals will take place at Bellator 102.

The semifinals will feature Mikkel Parlo (10-1) vs Jason Butcher (7-0), and Brennan Ward (7-1) vs Perry Filkins (8-1).

Parlo dominated longtime Bellator vet Brian Rogers this past weekend en route to a decisive unanimous decision. Butcher meanwhile recently survived the ground game of Giva “The Arm Collector” Santana, bouncing back to defeat the jiu-jitsu black belt in the second round.

Ward was a last minute entry into the tournament, replacing an injured Andreas Spang. He earned his spot by pounding out a victory over Justin Torrey. Filkins has earned the lone submission victory of the tournament so far, tapping out Jeremy Kimball with just over a minute left in the fight.

Bellator 102 will take place on October 4. It will air live on Spike TV. The eventual winner of the tournament will face the winner of Alexander Shlemenko vs Doug Marshall for the Bellator middleweight title.
