Ben Askren Will Headline the First Agon Wrestling Championships

While he waits to find out if he’ll be headed to the UFC, Bellator welterweight champion Ben Askren will be participating in a wrestling event. Agon Wrestling Championships is getting ready to put on its first show, and has paired Askren with former two-time collegiate champ Quintin Wright.

Agon states that it’s “the first domestic production to feature elite-level athletes from both the mixed martial arts and Olympic wrestling communities on a professional platform competing for prize money in the world’s first sport: wrestling.”

Askren certainly has the qualifications to headline this event. In addition to an undefeated MMA record, he’s a two-time Division I NCAA wrestling champion that competed at the Olympics.

In addition to Askren vs Wright, the event will also feature appearances by undefeated Alpha Male fighter Lance Palmer, and Olympic silver medalist Stephen Abas.

Agon 1: The Revolution will take place on October 27 in Las Vegas. It will air live on FloWrestling.org. The official rules are expected to be released soon.
