Assuming he gets past Alexander Gustafsson at UFC 165, Jon Jones will almost certainly be facing Glover Teixeira in his next title defense. Teixeira recently finished Ryan Bader at UFC Fight Night 28, securing his spot as the next top contender.
Jones was asked to weigh in on his potential rival on Twitter, where he strangely compared him to Quinton “Rampage” Jackson.

I’m assuming Jones meant it as a small dig, considering he defeated Rampage via rear-naked choke at UFC 135. However, it’s interesting that Jones commented specifically on Teixeira’s grappling ability. While it’s true that he’s a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt, Teixeira has also displayed an impressive aptitude for striking, finishing many of his fights via KO/TKO.
Either way, we’ll get to see what a “Rampage with better grappling” will look like against Jon Jones soon; unless of course, Alexander Gustafsson takes the belt on September 21.
