The UFC’s 20th anniversary show in November is shaping up to be one of the biggest cards in recent memory. Longtime heavyweight vets Alistair Overeem and Frank Mir have been officially confirmed for a match up on the main card.
While both have maintained a spot on the UFC’s divisional top ten, each of them is in desperate need of a win.
Overeem has had a tough time readjusting after serving a nine month suspension for elevated levels of testosterone. He’s suffered two back to back KO losses in 2013 alone, first to Antonio Silva and again to Travis Browne. Overeem is currently 36-13.
Frank Mir’s luck has been even worse, dropping three in a row to Daniel Cormier, Josh Barnett, and a title fight to Junior dos Santos. Mir is currently 16-8.
UFC 167 will take place at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas on November 16, 2013. It will headlined by a welterweight title fight between champion Georges St. Pierre and Johny Hendricks.
The full card so far is as follows:
• Georges St. Pierre vs. Johny Hendricks
• Rashad Evans vs. Chael Sonnen
• Rory MacDonald vs. Robbie Lawler
• Alistair Overeem vs. Frank Mir
• Josh Koscheck vs. Tyron Woodley
