Former UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva is picking a fight with boxing’s Floyd Mayweather Jr. In an interview with Sway Calloway, Silva called Mayweather “Papa Smurf,” and said that he doesn’t respect the legendary fighter.

“Boxers have the great story,” he said, with a slightly uneasy handle on the English language. “I respect for boxing. Floyd Mayweather? I don’t know this guy. Is he Papa Smurf? Mayweather is good boxing. This is my opinion. The guy no respect me. I respect all the guys in the world. Mayweather is a part of this story in the world. I’m part of the sport in the world. Mayweather need to respect this, but this guy no respect nothing. Sorry, but I no respect Mayweather.”

This outburst seems to be a response to an EsNews interview last month where Mayweather stated that he didn’t even know who Anderson Silva is.

Aside from his recent loss to Chris Weidman, Anderson Silva absolutely dominated the UFC’s middleweight for almost seven years, winning an unprecedented 16 straight fights in the promotion.

Likewise, Mayweather is a five-division world champion boxer, with a staggering 44-0 professional record.
