Multiple sources are confirming a welterweight fight between Rousimar Palhares and Mike Pierce to take place at UFC Fight Night 29. The October 9 event will take place at the Jose Correa Arena in Barueri, Sao Paulo, Brazil.

Lancenet first reported the news, adding that the bout will likely be a part of the main card. UFC officials have not yet officially announced the news however, so it is possible this match up could change between now and October.

Both fighters are longtime UFC vets who have struggled to cement their position in the promotion.

Rousimar Palhares is 7-4 in the UFC, and 14-5 overall. He is coming off of back to back losses against Alan Belcher and Hector Lombard, both via KO/TKO.

Mike Pierce meanwhile has won his last four, and holds a 9-3 record in the UFC, 17-5 overall. He is not currently ranked among the UFC’s top ten welterweights, although some outlets place him as close as number 11. It’s a strange match up for him, as a win here will likely not improve his ranking in the division.

UFC Fight Night 29 will take place on October 9, and will air live on FOX Sports 1. Here is the full card so far, including the still unofficial match up between Palhares and Pierce:

•           Demian Maia vs. Jake Shields

•           Dong Hyun Kim vs. Erick Silva

•           Rony Jason vs. Jeremy Stephens

•           Matt Hamill vs. Thiago Silva

•           Rousimar Palhares vs. Mike Pierce

•           Joey Beltran vs. Fabio Maldonado

•           Raphael Assuncao vs. T.J. Dillashaw

•           Rodrigo Damm vs. Hacran Dias

•           Chris Cariaso vs. Iliarde Santos
