Fox Sports 1 Finally Reaches Deal with DirecTV, Others

The lead-up to the UFC’s debut on Fox Sports 1 went rather smoothly but for one small hurdle: getting the channel on television.

As we reported earlier this week, the Fox Sports 1 channel was absent from the lineup of several major television carriers, including DirecTV, Dish Network, and Time Warner Cable. Despite the work of Fox executives to resolve the issue, no distribution deal had been agreed upon.

Dana White exhibited confidence that a deal would be finished in time for Saturday’s UFC Fight Night 26, and the boss was correct. The LA Times reports that Fox reached an agreement with the aforementioned networks to carry Fox Sports 1 at the time of its launch. The news is a relief to many fans, as the new deal represents an additional 40 million homes being covered.
