Yesterday, we reported that a complaint filed by labor organization “Unite Now” had the potential to derail the main event of the UFC’s debut on Fox Sports 1.
MMAJunkie.com now reports that following a panel meeting, the Massachusetts State Athletic Commission is likely to license Chael Sonnen for competition. The news is a relief for the fans and the promotion alike, as the loss of a main event competitor this late in the game would be difficult to resolve, threatening the success of the UFC’s network debut.
Sonnen’s manager indicated that the meeting went well, and there should be no further complications that affect his availability. Stay tuned for any future developments.
Be sure to catch the UFC’s debut on Fox Sports 1 as they bring us UFC Fight Night 26 on August 17, 2013. We’ll be bringing you all the latest UFC news and live fight recaps.
