Fresh off his stunning knockout victory over Mac Danzig, TUF veteran Melvin Guillard will head to Manchester, England in October to face off against British fighter and fellow TUF alumni, Ross Pearson. Fuel TV’s “UFC Tonight” reporter Ariel Helwani broke the news Tuesday evening, just two weeks after Guillard’s “knockout of the night” performance at UFC on Fox 8.
The “Young Assassin” will compete outside the United States for the first time in his career, taking on Pearson in the co-main event of the evening. UFC Fight Night 29 will be headlined by a middleweight matchup pitting hometown fighter Michael Bisping against powerful American wrestler Mark Munoz.
Pearson has gone 2-0 since his return as a lightweight, and looks to use his momentum to crack into the top-1o of the division. His most recent victory came in the form of a 2nd round TKO over Ryan Couture, the son of legendary former multi-division UFC title holder Randy Couture. Guillard’s recent victory was his first in over a year, having dropped bouts against Donald Cerrone and Jamie Varner to close out 2012.
Stay tuned, as we’ll be bringing you further fight card developments. UFC Fight Night 29 will air live from Manchester on October 26, 2013.
