Yahya takes the win!

UFC and WEC veteran Rani Yahya faced off against TUF veteran Josh Clopton to round out the Facebook portion of the preliminary card. Throughout the fight Yahya was able to use strikes to effectively set up his takedowns, and once it hit the ground the former world jiu-jitsu champion took control. He employed a mixture of strikes and submission attempts from top control and transitioned between dominant positions. While he secured the mount on two occasions he was unable to finish the American. Although Clopton controlled the third round with his wrestling, Yayha was able to avoid any significant damage and held on to earn the judges’ nod and gain his third straight UFC victory.

Winner: Rani Yahya, 3rd Round Unanimous Decision

Drives me crazy when fighters know they’re down two rounds and don’t do anything.

    • Charlie Hersman

Agreed. I didn’t think he would even be able to take Yahya down, but once he did he never tried to capitalize on it by looking for the finish.

Yup, lay and pray won’t win a fight when you’re down 2-0 in a three round fight.
