When it comes to joining the UFC family, fighters make it their goal to make it to the top and main event as many events as they can. When you are a headliner, there are more sponsorship opportunities and you end up getting certain percentage of pay-per-view buys as well. Ronda Rousey is the most successful women’s fighter in the UFC. You would think that a fighter of her caliber would be upset that she’s not the main event of UFC 168, but you are wrong. She’s looking forward to being part of potentially the best card of the year. There’s only two bouts confirmed for the event and they are two of the biggest bouts that you can have on a fight card.
Rousey discussed her thoughts with USA Today about being part of Chris Weidman and Anderson Silva’s rematch:
“I’m super stoked about being on the same card as Anderson Silva and Chris Weidman,” Rousey told USA TODAY Sports and MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com). “It’ll alleviate some of the promotional stress and pressure because there’ll be more of us working to promote this big card.”
“Their fight may very well be the fight of the year, maybe even in the history of the company, and I think it’s an honor to be a part of that,” Rousey said.
Ronda Rousey and Miesha Tate will look to get the crowd on its feet before Weidman and Anderson make their way to the cage. Look for them to have an amazing bout and this will make for an unforgettable night for mixed martial arts fans.
