Ed Soares: Anderson May Have Taunted Too Much

Ed Soares has been Anderson Silva’s manager for a number of a years now. He’s been there since he won the UFC middleweight championship and he’s still there after he lost the belt this weekend to Chris Weidman. Many people believe the taunting that Anderson displayed was unnecessary and ultimately led to his loss. Count Ed Soares as one of those people as well.

He discussed his thoughts to Ariel Helwani on the MMA Hour:

“I think he went out there and was taunting him and doing certain things Anderson does once in a while. There’s a possibility he may have taken it too far this time. And unfortunately he wasn’t able to walk away with the W. You move left when you should have moved right, and your night can end. Unfortunately, Anderson has a tendency to walk on that tightrope of taking risks. It’s part of the reason people like to watch him fight is because he takes those type of risks. Unfortunately, Saturday night, didn’t go his way.”

In the long run, what happened this weekend can’t change and history will never be the same because of it. Anderson went into this fight with nothing to gain and everything to lose. Unfortunately, he lost and now its back to the drawing board. He’s used to being so good that he could just dances and dodge punches all day. Chris Weidman knew that was going to happen and he made Anderson pay for it. Plain and simple.

What did you think of the taunting? Was it too much or was just Anderson Silva being Anderson Silva?
