UFC 165 is looking to become a hugely stacked card for the fans in Canada. Most venues are happy to have just one championship fight on their card, UFC 165 will have two…sort of. Interim UFC bantamweight champion Renan Barao will be defending his belt against Eddie Wineland in the co-main event of UFC 165. The main event will be Jon Jones looking to break the most consecutive light heavyweight title defenses against red-hot Alexander Gustafsson.
They were originally supposed to be the main event to UFC 161. Barao was deemed injured and was unable to compete on the card. The UFC decided to keep Eddie Wineland off the card as well, they scheduled the co-main event of Dan Henderson against Rashad Evans up to the main event of the fight card.
The card ended up being rather forgettable as a whole and now they look to finally lock horns. Dominick Cruz has been injured for the past few years with an ACL injury. He looks to come back by the end of the year or beginning of next year.
The winner of this bout will surely be the man who gets to unify the title with Cruz and we can finally go back to having only one respective champion in each UFC weight class.
There’s plenty riding in this bout of bantamweights. This should end up being an exciting clash and will help fire up the crowd for an awesome main event in Canada.
