Dana White and Joe Silva are looking to make their first trip to Houston’s Toyota Center a huge deal to say the least. The main event of the card will be Junior dos Santos and Cain Velasquez going toe-to-toe one final time and we have another exciting bout to add to the card.
Exciting lightweights Gilbert Melendez and Diego Sanchez will be added to the card. This bout surely has the capability to be a fight of the night producer. Both have an in-your-face style and love to bring it come fight night.
Both fighters are in interesting predicaments within their career. You could say that Melendez should be the UFC’s lightweight champion after his controversial loss to Benson Henderson back at UFC on Fox 7. It was a bout that most felt should of been in the favor of “El Nino” but unfortunately two out of the three judges believed that Benson was the victor.
Diego recently defeated Pride legend Takanori Gomi in a bout that many felt that he lost. Even Dana White thought that he lost that bout. That is why you never leave in the hands of the judges. Diego competed for the UFC’s lightweight championship before. Losing to BJ Penn back at UFC 107 in a bloody affair and a bout that Penn dictated from start to finish.
Both are looking to try to earn another shot at gold. It will be an interesting bout on a stacked card in Houston, Texas.
