Jon Jones is the future of the UFC. He’s dominated the light heavyweight division in such a short amount of time that many people are clamoring for a fight with Anderson Silva. It would be the biggest fight in the history of the UFC. It seems like if both men are victorious in their next respective bouts, the bout we’ve been wanting may finally become a reality.

Jon Jones recently discussed about how he believes he would win that bout via twitter:

“Honored to hear the statements Silva made regarding a super fight me earlier today.. Doesn’t change much, still working hard… I believe I am gifted and hard-working enough to pull out the victory against anyone.”

It’s hard to argue against the man. He holds a professional record of 18-1 and oh yeah that 1 loss, was in a bout with Matt Hamill. He was destroying Hamill but unfortunately got disqualified for doing a 6 to 12 elbow. Realistically he’s undefeated and it doesn’t look like he’s going to be losing anytime soon.

Perhaps there are challenges for Jones in the heavyweight division. Maybe Cain Velasquez or Junior dos Santos could end up taking the UFC light heavyweight champion down. There’s just no chance of anyone in the middleweight or light heavyweight division taking over the throne and Jones so heavily has a stranglehold on.

He’s defeated 5 former UFC champions and if he faces Anderson Silva in the future, he will be looking to make that number 6.

The sky is the limit for Jones. Can’t blame him for believing that he can end the streak of  The Spider. His record speaks for itself.
