Edson Barboza has been making plenty of changes since his loss to Jamie Varner back at UFC 146. One thing that has drastically helped is being involved with Frankie Edgar and his camp. He used to train with Nova Uniao but is now training full time with Frankie Edgar and Renzo Gracie. He went to MMA junkie and discussed his change of camp and how it’s paid off for him:
“It was important to prove to myself that I am getting better and also that I have more to show to UFC fans,” Barboza said. “Also, it was good to know that I am on the right path being part of the best team I could ask for. I have been training with Frankie Edgar’s team since his last fight against Benson Henderson. Since then, I couldn’t leave this group. They all are great people and partners. I’m blessed to be part of this.”
Frankie Edgar is one of the most inspirational athletes in mixed martial arts. His heart and ability to come back from being on the brink of defeat has been one of the biggest stories to come out in martial arts in quite some time. His epic battles with Gray Maynard, BJ Penn, and Benson Henderson help put him on the map.
Frankie might be the best person to help bring Barboza back in the eyes of UFC brass and help him work his way back up to elite status in the UFC’s lightweight division.
