Marcus Brimage was on a roll prior to his UFC on Fuel TV 9 loss to Conor McGregor. The sky was the limit for the young prospect but it all came tumbling down. McGregor was able to win by TKO and now the spotlight is on him. Brimage is looking to come back to the fight game in 2014 because of a surgery to his knee. He’s looking to make a drop in weight and to help resurrect his career.
Brimage spoke to MMAjunkie about the move to bantamweight and when he feels healthy enough to compete again:
“Marcus has started his rehab and is working with a team of doctors, therapists, coaches and nutritionists to make certain that he returns to the octagon as soon as possible and in the best shape possible,” McMahon told MMAjunkie.com. “Current estimates are for a nine-month recovery. Upon his return, Marcus will fight as a bantamweight.”
Marcus could become a threat to the bantamweight division after only a few fights in the new weight class. There are plenty of intriguing fights that could await him if he decides to make the drop.
Bouts with Mike Easton, Brad Pickett, and TJ Dillashaw are just some of the great potential bouts that we can see in the future with Marcus.
Does Marcus have what it takes to make a run at the title currently held by Dominick Cruz? Only time will tell for this future bantamweight prospect.
