TJ Grant has a lot to focus on nowadays. He’s headlining UFC 164 againt Benson Henderson for the UFC lightweight championship. His mind has been on other things lately. In a well publicized move, Anthony Pettis tried to convince the UFC to have him take over Grant’s spot because the event is in Pettis’ hometown of Milwaukee. Looks like Grant was not happy about the whole situation.
He discussed his frustration with ESPN:
“I wish it was handled a little differently; him of all people, I think it was disrespectful, to do that against someone who has earned the right to fight is not right. Unfortunately he got hurt, but it was low class, I thought. I didn’t want to get into the whole talking thing. I got here legitimately and earned it. Ultimately, what he was saying was that he wanted my title shot which was incredibly disrespectful. It was pretty dirty.”
Looks like we have another potential feud on the horizon. It is inevitable that Pettis and Grant will somehow meet in the octagon. They both have explosive styles and it should make for a great bout.
Right now Grant has bigger things to deal with. Like the cardio and leg work of Benson Henderson. Do you think Pettis was right or wrong in trying to snag the headlining spot from Grant?
