Chris Weidman is certainly intrigued with a bout against Jon Jones, if victorious against Anderson Silva next weekend at UFC 162.
“I mean, I’ve got to beat Anderson first,” the undefeated Weidman (9-0 MMA, 5-0 UFC) said during a media teleconference in support of his headliner against Silva (33-4 MMA, 16-0 UFC) at next week’s UFC 162 event. “That’s the first big step. Whatever the UFC fans and UFC want to do and the fight they want to see, I’m definitely willing to do.”
This middleweight clash is really one of the most intriguing bouts because many fighters predict that Chris Weidman will be the man to take over Anderson’s throne in the middleweight division. Fans and media alike have been clamoring for a bout with Jon Jones and Anderson Silva. Weidman could end up playing spoiler and we’ll never know who would of won in a battle of the pound-for-pound best.
Would anyone want to see Weidman go up in weight and battle Jon Jones or any of the elite of the light heavyweight division. Next weekend plays a huge factor for the UFC moving forward. Weidman has the wrestling pedigree to give Anderson plenty of problems.
There’s plenty to watch next weekend with UFC 162. The whole landscape of one division could drastically change. Make sure to watch to see what happens.
