Nick Diaz is and will always be one of the most polarizing figures in all of mixed martial arts. You either love him or you hate him, there’s no in between. Will he be able to make his first local promotion a successful one? There are plenty of promotions Bellator, Invicta, MXC, and UFC. The promotional business is far from an easy one. There are plenty of organization who try but ultimately fail.
For Nick Diaz to make War MMA successful, he’ll need to become the face of the organization for the time being. People pay to see him. Plain and simple. Slowly he can work his way out of the lime light. Once his fighters can prove their are capable of making money for the organization without him.
Diaz’s promotional debut takes place this weekend in Stockton, CA. The main event pits UFC veteran (14-4) Daniel Roberts against (13-3) Justin Baesman.
The lack of star power is pretty evident but it’s Nick Diaz so you never know what’s going to happen. Will any other fighters with star power join the organization? Maybe one day Jake Shields or Nate Diaz will help add the star power that War MMA greatly needs.
This is only the first event for the promotion. Things could end up being perfectly fine for Nick Diaz and Co. But if one things is adamant about being a successful organization is that you have to make stars and you need to make them fairly quickly.
We will see what happens this weekend in Stockton.
