Randy Couture Says Filming Went “Fantastic” For Fight Master

Randy Couture is one of the four coaches on Fight Master: Bellator MMA, Spike TV’s original series.

The show debuts tonight June 19th with everything going “fantastic” according to Couture. The show will run up against The Ultimate Fighter having 32 welterweight hopefuls competing for $100,000 prize and entry into the future Bellator tournament.

“I was very excited about the level of competition and the level of talent that we had involved in the show.  I was also very pleased with the direction of the show. Bertram (van Munster) and Elise (Doganieri) are well-known Emmy-award-winning producers with The Amazing Race, and this is kind of their baby.  I’m excited to see some of the edit and how it comes out.”

Couture is no newbie when it comes to MMA reality shows, he coached opposite Chuck Liddell on UFC’s debut of The Ultimate Fighter series on Spike TV as well in 2006. Couture said that Fight Master: Bellator MMA did get something right the first time around unlike The Ultimate Fighter, to focus on the contestants.

“The focus on the show was definitely on the fighters and giving the fighters a lot of choices to make their own decisions and basically have their fate and their future in their hands.”

Only time will tell if Fight Master: Bellator MMA will be able to last as long as The Ultimate Fighter has. Tune in tonight for the premiere.
