Antonio Nogueira got some ligamen damage in his arm from his bout against Fabricio Werdum at FUEL TV 10.
It looks like Big Nog did get himself hurt at UFC on FUEL TV 10. After the fight at the event his coach Luiz Dorea tweeted that Big Nog would be getting an x-ray on his arm following the loss by armbar to Werdum, luckily nothing else was broken.
That MRI uncovered that there is some ligament damage and Big Nog is headed for the cutting room today for surgery. this isn’t the first time he’s had surgery on his arm. The former Pride and interim UFC heavyweight champ had his arm snapped back at uFC 150 against Frank Mir due to a Kimura. That one set him back awhile getting it fixed.
Nogueira actually has 16 screws inserted into his humerus. He was able to return a little bit early and submitted Dave Herman at UFC 153.
Surgery again is never a good thing, especially on a body part that’s had to be worked on before. But even more is that Nogueira isn’t getting any younger either. He needs to keep himself in the game as much as possible, his time is running out faster and faster. This surgery, unfortunately, will keep him out for eight weeks.
