It’s that time again. UFC 161 should be an exciting card with the main event being two light heavyweight looking to get back into title contention after their recent losses. Dan Henderson and Rashad Evans are both in dyer need of a victory and the loser of this bout could kiss any future title shot good bye. The co-main event pits fan favorite Roy Nelson against Stipe Miocic. Lets get to the predictions.
Pat Barry vs. Shawn Jordan
This bout should be an explosive bout. Pat Barry is one of the most exciting heavyweights currently on the UFC roster. The only problem is Shawn Jordan. He looked rather sluggish in his last bout with Cheick Kongo. Look for Jordan to take the fight to the ground and stay nowhere near the stand up of Barry. Shawn Jordan gets the victory by either third round ground and pound or unanimous decision.
Alexis Davis vs Rosi Sexton
This is a pivotal bout for the women’s UFC bantamweight division. An impressive win for either fighter would move them on the short end of future contenders for Ronda Rousey. Alexis Davis has more the experience background and she will be too much for Sexton. Look for Rosi to put up a valiant effort but ultimately fall to Davis. Davis will win by unanimous decision.
Ryan Jimmo vs Igor Pokrajac
Both of these fighters are coming off of losses and are looking to get to the win column. Igor Pokrajac was defeated by Vinny Magalhaes and Ryan Jimmo lost to James Te Huna. Look for Ryan Jimmo to get the better part of the exchanges and end this fight early in front of his home crowd. Jimmo will defeat Pokrajac by TKO in the first or second round.
Roy Nelson vs Stipe Miocic
This fight will definitely by knockout of the night. Roy Nelson looks phenomenal against guys who are will to stand with him. Simply put, Nelson will end up hitting the chin of Miocic and adding another victim to his knockout gallery. Nelson will win by knockout round 1.
Dan Henderson vs Rashad Evans
This main event is an intriguing one to say the least. Both fighters desperately need a win to remain relevant in the light heavyweight division. Dan Henderson will look to keep this fight standing. If he can connect with his H-bomb, he will do whatever it takes. Unfortunately that’s the wrong game plan with Evans. Rashad has proven that he can take a punch from the best of them and his wrestling and cardio will play the biggest factor. Look for Henderson to look sluggish after the first round and for Rashad to capitalize with his wrestling. It wont be pretty but Evans wins by unanimous decision.
