Thiago Silva recently defeated Rafael Feijao at UFC on Fuel TV 10. He’s now looking for big fights on his route towards the UFC light heavyweight championships. He may end up taking a detour and a fight that intrigues him is a fight with Antonio “Big Foot Silva.
He recently stated that Big Foot would have to drop to 205 to get his shot at him but it seems like he’s changed his stance as of late. He talked to BJPenn.com about how he would be interested in doing some sort of catchweight bout between him and the big man.
“I can’t say too much about Bigfoot, you know? We used to train together, I know him, you know, I think he’s a hater. He’s jealous because I just beat his friend. If he wants to fight me, its ok, come to 205. Or much better; I’ll give you an idea; we can do like a catch weight, you know, like 220 pounds, 230, I don’t know, if he drops. I’ll do it, no problem. I want to fight. I fight for money, you know, and I like to beat stupid people like him. So if he wants to fight me we can do a catch weight at 220 pounds and I’ll be ready to beat him. Bet on that.”
These two at one time were friends and teammates. It looks like since Big Foot’s departure from American Top Team, there’s been animosity between these two fighters and the best way to settle it is in the octagon. Antonio is already looking at making the drop to 205 if a doctor deems that it’s physically possible for him. He already cuts to 265 just to make the heavyweight limit.
Can he make it? Only time will tell. One thing for sure is that a phone call for Mike Dolce might be in order to even help his chances of making this fight possible.
