Jon Jones Wants Gustaffson In October

Looks like Jon Jones is ready to make his way back to the octagon and he’s got an opponent in mind. The recent twitter way between Jon Jones and Alexander Gustaffson has intrigued Jones enough to want a fight with “The Mauler”.

They have even provided us with an awesome staredown between the two when they were visiting in Russia a few weeks ago. It seems like a bout that both men want and a bout that would be good for the division.

Jon Jones has been nothing short of phenomenal during his time in the UFC. He’s the youngest reigning UFC champion ever and has defeated former champions Mauricio Rua, Rashad Evans, Rampage Jackson, and Lyoto Machida.

He’s currently tied with Tito Ortiz for the most consecutive light heavyweight defenses in UFC history. A victory here would continue to solidify himself as the best and a super fight with Anderson Silva could be in the works.

Gustaffson is riding a six fight winning streak since his loss to Phil Davis back at UFC 112. He recently defeated Mauricio Rua at UFC on Fox 7 and has been clamoring for a bout with the champ since. He was supposed to fight Gegard Mousasi at UFC on Fuel TV 7, but unfortunately an eye cut led to the Swedish commission to withdrawal him from the bout.

Will this fight finally come to fruition? According to Ariel Helwani, this is the fight Jones wants. That’s a good sign. Let’s just hope that this fight does happen. We don’t want to see another Jones Machida bout do we?
