Dominick Cruz has a long road ahead of him before making his way back to the octagon. He recently posted this picture on the internet. If you take a look at his right leg, you can see that it’s significantly smaller then his left leg.
Having one ACL surgery is bad enough for a fighter’s career but having two is just a truly unfortunate set of events. Cruz was scheduled to compete with rival Urijah Faber after they were done coaching The Ultimate Fighter. He tore his ACL in training during the taping of the reality show and continued to coach but the fight wasn’t happening anytime soon.
While healing up and training, he injured it yet again and had to go under the knife a second time to get it fixed. He last competed in October of 2011, defending his bantamweight championship against current flyweight champion Demetrious Johnson.
The whole landscape has changed significantly since he last competed. There are plenty of hungry challengers waiting for their chance at UFC gold. If Dominick can strengthen his leg and get back into the game he’ll have a lot of work to do to re-establish himself as the best bantamweight in the world.
He has a long road ahead of him but if anyone can get themselves back in fighting shape, it’s Dominick Cruz.
