BJ Penn is looking to go back to the division that he had the most success. Dana White has been asking for Penn to retire but it seems like he still has a fire to compete.
UFC Tonight announced his thoughts on making one last run for a championship. BJ Penn is one of the greatest lightweights to ever compete in the UFC. He’s also one of two people to hold two different UFC division titles.
He’s been inconsistant lately, going 1-4-1 in his last 6 bouts. Losing to Frankie Edgar, Nick Diaz, and Rory MacDonald. His only win in the last 3 years was against arch-rival turned friend Matt Hughes at UFC 123.
Penn has had problems competing in the welterweight division. Going against bigger and stronger fighters. Will going to lightweight change anything?
If Penn does decide to compete again, lightweight is the logical choice. Will he ever become an elite lightweight again? Only time will tell.
