UFC 164 in Milwaukee has its main event. Benson Henderson will be defending his lightweight scrap against red hot TJ Grant.
Benson Henderson has not defended his lightweight title on pay-per-view since August 11th at UFC 150 against Frankie Edgar in their rematch. The UFC hasn’t had a marketable lightweight star since BJ Penn.
One problem with the marketing ability of Henderson, is the fact that two of his three title bouts have been split decisions. He hasn’t finished an opponent during his time in the UFC, going the distance in his last seven bouts.
Henderson last defeated Gilbert Melendez at UFC on Fox 7. It was an extremely competitive bout and fans/media alike thought that Melendez ended up the victor that night. Shows how stacked the lightweight division is.
TJ Grant has looked nothing short of phenomenal during his stint as a lightweight in the UFC. Going 5-0 as a lightweight and defeated former contender Gray Maynard at UFC 160 in Las Vegas.
Diego Sanchez is reported to compete on the card and the co-main event is Frank Mir against Josh Barnett. UFC 164 takes place in Milwaukee, part of Harley Davidson’s 110 anniversary.
