UFC’s Heading To Televisa Network In Mexico

The UFC’s just made a deal with the Televisa Networks for exclusive distribution for programming.

The agreement will air UFC programming in 20 Spanish speaking countries in Latin America. This doesn’t include Brazil who’s got it’s own deal. They plan on launching the subscription channel later this year.

The deal will include UFC programming on TDN in Mexico and Golden Channel in Latin America along with four live events each year. This’ll be on Televisa’s free-to-air Channel 5 for Mexico and other free-to-air channels throughout Latin America.

The UFC channel’s going to have live fights, reality shows and specialty programming, all broadcast in Spanish.

UFC’s never hosted an event in Mexico but it has been on their radar for quiet some time. “The launch of this UFC Channel will be a game changer for our sport and fans throughout Latin America. We are giving millions of fans across the region complete access to all our live events and programming for the first time,” Lorenzo Fertitta, Co-owner of the UFC stated.

Dana White’s mentioned that this could open up a new 115 lbs strawweight division to attract more Mexican fighters. “The culture in Mexico, they’re fighters. The greatest fighters in history come from Mexico, and there’s that whole famous Mexican style of fighting,” White said.

“It’s going to be amazing.”
