Ronaldo Souza and Yushin Okami are two of the best middleweights in the world. They are both carrying plenty of momentum, and a bout between these two athletes was inevitable. It looks like Dana White agrees, and we have a pivotal middleweight bout in the works.
During the UFC 160 pre-presser conference, Karyn Bryant from M.M.A heat asked Dana if a bout between these two fighters was something that the UFC would be interested in. Dana stated yes, and that the winner could see themselves fighting Vitor Belfort next.
Ronaldo Souza is coming off a successful UFC debut. He defeated Chris Camozzi with relative ease in the co-main event of UFC on FX 8. He’s currently on a three fight winning streak since his Strikeforce middleweight title loss to Luke Rockhold. Souza is currently ranked at number six, according to UFC rankings. If Souza can defeat Yushin and Vitor, a title shot makes the most sense.
Yushin Okami is one of the longest tenured middleweights inside the octagon. He’s competed for the UFC 17 times and has competed with the best in the division. He competed for the middleweight title against Anderson Silva at UFC 134. He’s currently on a three fight winning streak defeating Buddy Roberts, Alan Belcher, and Hector Lombard. Okami is ranked number three in the division just behind Chris Weidman and Vitor Belfort.
If this fight comes to be realized, it will undoubtedly be part of the main card on either a FOX card or a UFC pay-per-view.
Who’s your pick to win this middleweight clash?
