The super fight with Jon Jones and Anderson Silva may end up happening this year. Yeah, how many times have we heard that one before? Dana White stated that if Anderson is able to defeat Chris Weidman at UFC 162, then the super fight will be next.
Anderson Silva is the most dominant champion in the history of the UFC. He currently holds numerous records for the organization. He has the longest UFC active winning streak (16), most championship defenses (10) and the most finishes (14). After Weidman, there might not be very many challenges left for Anderson Silva in the middleweight division.
Jon “Bones” Jones has also been doing very well since making his UFC debut at UFC 87 against Andre Gusmao. He has been dominating all of the competition that has been put in front of him. At UFC 128, he was able to defeat Mauricio “Shogun” Rua and became the youngest light heavyweight champion in the history of the UFC. He’s currently tied with Tito Ortiz with the most consecutive light heavyweight title defenses in the UFC.
Both fighters are considered to be the best of their generation and they both have done amazing things during their career in the UFC octagon. This is a true dream fight that would easily become the highest watched pay-per-view fight, and the most important fight of all time.
The UFC has an opportunity to make history with a fight of this magnitude. Boxing missed out on an opportunity like this with Manny Pacquiao and Floyd “Money” Mayweather.
Will Dana White finally make this fight a reality, or is he just blowing smoke in our ears?
