Carlos Condit is looking to compete in the biggest fights of his career. He has lost his last two bouts even though he fought competitively. He suffered defeat to Georges St Pierre and number one contender, Johny Hendricks. It looks like he wants to take a break from competition, but when he comes back he has a big fight in mind.
He recently discussed when he wants to come back and who he wants to face with MMAjunkie:
“I want to be in good fights with a lot of hype and a lot of buzz, and a rematch with Diaz and myself would interest a lot of folks. I had a couple of fights, back to back,” he said. “So honestly, I’m probably just taking the summer doing some traveling and some training – obviously, a big aspect of my game I need to work on. My last two fights were basically lost due to the wrestling. So I’m really focusing on that before I get out there again.”
Nick Diaz would be the perfect opponent, as their bout at UFC 143 was extremely close. It competitive in fact, that fans couldn’t decide who won that bout. Does Condit think that Diaz would come out of retirement to avenge that loss?
“The fight was a close fight,” Condit said. “It was a decision. So I think we could put on a good show. It goes without saying that there was a lot of controversy after the fight. Just putting that to rest would be another reason I would like to fight.”
What do you, the fans, think? Would a rematch between Carlos Condit and Nick Diaz make for an entertaining event?
