Looks like there’s a new main event for UFC 161.
With Renan Barao being injured and unable to defend his title against Eddie Wineland at UFC 161, looks like the UFC has made up their mind of who will take over the main event slot. Dan Henderson and Rashad Evans have been bumped up from main card fight to the main event.
It is still unknown if Eddie Wineland will continue to compete on the card or will be taken off the card. Eddie Wineland currently has a two fight winning streak, defeating Scott Jorgensen and Brad Pickett.
Both Dan Henderson and Rashad Evans lost their last bouts in the UFC. Dan Henderson lost by split decision against Lyoto Machida at UFC 157 and Rashad Evans lost in a bizarre decision bout against Rodrigo Nogueira.
Both are looking to get back into the win column and to work their way back into title contention.
If Dan Henderson is able to defeat Rashad Evans, there is a chance that he could be competing for the UFC light heavyweight title in the near future. This fight for Rashad Evans happens to be a make it or break it fight for the long time light heavyweight contender.
A loss for Evans would spell the end of his chances at ever competing for the light heavyweight title again. He is currently on a two fight losing skid and cannot afford a third loss.
