UFC on FX 8 takes place this weekend in Brazil. Most of the focus on the card is in towards the main event. Vitor Belfort is headlining the card against the former Strikeforce middleweight champion, Luke Rockhold. We all know the importance of this fight. Now is the time to take a look at the other fights and see what’s at stake?
Starting off with a bang: The first fight on the main card is always an important one. They need to get the tempo going and have an exciting war to get the fans pumped. Rafael Natal kicks off the main card against Joao Zeferino. Eleven of Natal’s fifteen victories have come by TKO or submission, and of Zeferino’s thirteen victories ten have come by TKO or submission. There’s a good chance that this fight doesn’t disappoint.
Back in the hunt: Evan Dunham and Rafael Dos Anjos were both considered top prospects in the UFC’s stacked lightweight division. They have both struggled to keep a winning streak together. The winner of this fight should creep back up to the top 12 of the division. The loser will go back to the preliminary card.
Making a Statement: The co-main event pits Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza against Chris Camozzi. Both want to prove that they are top contenders in the middleweight division and work their way up to a title shot. Jacare is a former Strikeforce middleweight champion and would be a fresh challenge for Anderson Silva (if successful against Chris Weidman) and would be a solid match up. Camozzi has been somewhat of a quiet contender this past year and has an opportunity to shake up the rankings. Winner of this bout will move into a high stakes bout next.
UFC on FX 8 has plenty of amazing fights on the card. Each fight on the main card can end up being a war. Make sure to tune in on Saturday night.
