This Saturday, Zuffa returns to Brazil for UFC on FX 8. The main event pits perennial middleweight contenders Vitor Belfort and Luke Rockhold against each other. The winner of this bout could find themselves competing for the UFC middleweight title, currently held by Anderson Silva. Let’s go over the main card fights and give our predictions.
Rafael Natal vs Joao Zeferino
This fight that opens up the main card was originally suppose to be Rafael Natal against Chris Camozzi. Costa Phillipou sustained an injury before his bout against Ronaldo Souza and Camozzi filled in to save the co-main event leaving Joao Zeferino to fill in for this fight. Natal has competed in the octagon 6 times during this current stint. He’s never been able to keep consistency throughout his UFC career. Zeferino is currently on a 7 fight winning streak and 9 out of 13 wins have been by submission. Look for him to submit Natal.
Zeferino def. Natal by submission Round 2.
Rafael Dos Anjos vs Evan Dunham
Both of these fighters are looking to get into the top ten and make a run at the UFC lightweight title. Evan Dunham at one point was considered to be the future of the lightweight division, but losses to Melvin Guillard and T.J. Grant slowed his momentum. A win here will say a lot about his status in the UFC. Dos Anjos struggled early in his UFC career with loses to Tyson Griffin, Clay Guida, and Jeremy Stephens. It looks like he has improved and has the ability to win this fight. This fight goes three rounds.
Rafael Dos Anjos def. Evan Dunham by unanimous decision.
Chris Camozzi vs Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza
Ronaldo Souza is one of the best middleweight in the world. His jiu jitsu is some of the best in the game. What’s scary is he’s been showing some devastating power in his hands lately, but Camozzi has nothing to lose in this fight. He’s taking the fight on short notice and is competing with the best. His best chance of winning is to leave it all in the octagon and go for broke. We just don’t see it happening.
Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza def. Chris Camozzi by submission second round.
Vitor Belfort vs Luke Rockhold
This fight is one fight that is so close to call. These are two of the best middleweights in the world. One is looking for a rematch with Anderson Silva, and another is making his UFC debut in hostile territory. Vitor brings explosive hand speed in all of his fights and this fight should be no different. Vitor has only lost to champions Anderson Silva and Jon Jones during his current run in the UFC. Rockhold was the last Strikeforce middleweight champion defeating Ronaldo Souza and defending it against Tim Kennedy. This fight will be a close fight. Luke survives an early storm from Belfort and gets this fight to go to the later rounds.
Luke Rockhold def. Vitor Belfort by unanimous decision.
This fight card looks to be an exciting one. UFC on FX 8 takes place in Jaragua, Santa Catarina Brazil and will have great results for a few of these fighters.
