Should Dominick Cruz Be Stripped Of The Title?

Dominick Cruz has been inactive since October 2011. The last time he competed was against our now current flyweight champion Demetrious Johnson. To say times have changed is an understatement. He was suppose to finish his rivalry with Urijah Faber, but unfortunately he tore his ACL during the taping of TUF Season 15.

Dana White has publicly stated that he would not strip him of the title unless Cruz decided to retire. There is only one problem, the bantamweight division is moving on without him. Renan Barao is the interim bantamweight champion and is defending the title more than Cruz ever defended his.

Additionally, will Dominick Cruz be the same fighter when he gets back? Is it smart for him to compete with Barao, or whoever the champion is at that moment? It would be safer for him to take a fight beforehand to see if he’s ready to compete with the elite of the division. Dominick Cruz should be competing within the end of the year, but rushing him into a title match could hurt him in the long run.
