Bellator Announce First “Summer Series” Card


Bellator recently announced their first card taking place during the “Summer Series” tournament. Bellator 96 will be taking place in Thackerville, Oklahoma.

The first bout will be a welterweight feature bout. War Machine will be fighting against Blas Avena. War Machine “Jon Koppenhaver” is one of the more controversial mixed martial artists. The winner of this bout moves on to the next welterweight tournament.

Renato “Babalu” Sobral will be competing for a shot at the light heavyweight title. He will be taking on Jacob Noe. Babalu is still a well known name and if Noe can pull off the upset it could lead to a great MMA career for him.

Muhammed “King Mo” Lawal will be fighting Seth Petruzelli. King Mo is a former Strikeforce Light Heavyweight champion. He recently got knocked out by Emanuel Newton is a shocking spinning back fist that hit him right on the button. Petruzelli is famous for defeating Kimbo Slice and ultimately ending the organization of Elite XC.

The main event pits Bellator Lightweight champion Michael Chandler against tournament winner Dave Jansen. Michael Chandler has become one of the poster children for Bellator and Jansen recently defeated Marcin Held to win the lightweight tournament championship.
