UFC159

Tomorrow, at UFC 159, Jon Jones will put his Light Heavyweight title on the line against, outspoken contender, Chael Sonnen. The co-main event of the card is two middleweight contenders looking to get back into the winning column; Michael Bisping and Alan Belcher. Here are our predictions for who will come out victorious at UFC 159.

Pat Healy vs Jim Miller

The first bout of the main card pits mma veterans Pat Healy and Jim Miller against each other. Miller looked amazing in his last fight. Thoroughly dominating Joe Lauzon, splitting his face open with elbows and earning a “fight of the night” victory. Pat Healy is a tough durable fighter but will have no answers for Jim Miller.

Prediction: Jim Miller def. Pat Healy by unanimous decision

Phil Davis vs Vinny Magalhaes

This fight has grown into a grudge match the past few months. Magalhaes and Davis have had no issue throwing insults at each other on twitter. Now it is time to find out who the better fighter is. Phil Davis will be able to keep this fight standing. Neutralizing both fighters strengths. Phil’s stand up is not the most impressive but it should be enough to keep Magalhaes at bay.

Prediction: Phil Davis def. Vinny Magalhaes by unanimous decision

Cheick Kongo vs Roy Nelson

Two things are guaranteed in this fight. The loser will remain a gatekeeper in the division and no way this fight goes to the judges. Both have dynamite in their hands and will look to take each other’s heads off. If you watched UFC 107, Frank Mir was able to rock Kongo with a well timed overhand right hook. Sound familiar? That is Roy Nelson’s bread and butter. Look for him to hit Cheick Kongo with that right hook and be prepared to watch the big man come crumbling down.

Prediction: Roy Nelson def. Cheick Kongo by TKO round 2

Michael Bisping vs Alan Belcher

Winner stays in the hunt for a title shot. Loser is out. Plain and simple. Not many people are feeling that Alan Belcher has a chance in this fight. I disagree. Belcher has all the tools to compete with Bisping. There is a reason why Michael has never competed for a title shot. He can never get that one victory that will establish him as the contender. I am calling for an upset here.

Prediction: Alan Belcher def. Michael Bisping by unanimous decision

Jon Jones vs Chael Sonnen

We all know how Chael was brought into this position. He was able to talk his way into a title shot. There is really nothing that Chael can do to come out on top in this one. Jon Jones has a 10.5 inch reach advantage and also has the most submission victories in the light heavyweight division. Chael’s biggest weakness has always been submissions. Look for another submission loss for Chael and for Jones’ record to increase by one.

Prediction: Jon Jones def. Chael Sonnen by submission Round 2

I’m thinking Phil will win by KO round 2, and HOPING Chael wins, I don’t really care how.
