Is another title shot on the horizon for Chad Mendes?
Ever since Chad Mendes lost to UFC Featherweight champion Jose Aldo, he has become somewhat of an afterthought in his division. He’s rattled off three straight first round TKOs and is still considered the second best featherweight in the world.
It shouldn’t take long for him to get another crack at the title. With Anthony Pettis battling Aldo in August and Chan Sung Jung battling Ricardo Lamas to see who is the next contender. By next year, there won’t be many contenders left in the division.
As much as Mendes is chomping at the bit to get another shot at the title. If he keeps winning the UFC will have no choice but to give him his shot.
Georges St. Pierre is a fighter who lost to the champion at one point. He came back and worked his way up the ladder and was able to defeat the champion in the rematch. Just ask Matt Hughes.
Could this be the same fate? Only time will tell. There is no doubt that Mendes will earn another title shot in the future.
