Possibly soon to be “former” mixed martial arts referee Josh Rosenthal is awaiting sentencing after pleading guilty to conspiracy to manufacture and distribute marijuana and possession with intent to distribute.
A year ago in Oakland California, police raided a warehouse linked to Rosenthal with approximately 1,356 marijuana plants with a projected value of over 6 million dollars worth of marijuana.
His court date is set for May 17th. His plea bargain consists of 37 months in jail, fines, and 5 years of probation. If the judge decides to reject the deal, he could face anywhere from 10 years to life in prison, a 10 million dollar fine, and a minimum of five years probation. Of course with life in prison looming, the fines and probation are likely the least of his worries.
This news certainly explains why Rosenthal hasn’t been refereeing any UFC events lately and it looks like we wont be seeing Rosenthal’s officiating anytime soon either.
