Ronda Rousey has two girls coming for her in the UFC, Sarah Kaufman and Misha Tate.
Sarah Kaufman use to be considered the best female fighter before Rousey came into the scene and took over. Kaufman’s fame was quickly taken out when she lost a featherweight title to Marloes Coenen and then the bantamweight to Rousey shortly after.
Ronda Rousey’s fame, as we all know, just kept rising and continues to. Her undefeated reputation soared through Strikeforce.
Now Kaufman is on her way back up. If she can pick up a win at Invicta FC 5, she might just get a chance at taking on Rousey again. Kaufman told MMA Underground about her win over Misha Tate and what she wants if she wins at Invicta FC 5.
“100% I want Ronda Rousey. I will continue to put on exciting fights and beat my way back to the top. Women (and the 135lb division) in MMA are in a great place right now. We have the UFC, Invicta, Bellator, and other organizations all putting on some amazing fights. I want to continue to be a part of that growth and push the boundaries even further. Miesha Tate was also fun to punch in the face. I’d love to get that opportunity again, but this time, finish her before the final bell!”
Miesha Tate has also fallen to defeat against Rousey. The two are claimed to have some sort of crazy, intense rivalry. Tate could rebound with a win in her final Strikeforce fight and UFC contract at the upcoming TUF 17 finale in Las Vegas against Cat Zigano on April 13.
This match is set to be the second-ever female fight on the main card in the UFC’s history.
In this battle, whom ever comes out victorious will then go on to coach aside Rousey in the 18th season of TUF, where they will also be having a co-ed mix of bantamweight fighters.
So if Tate takes the win this could be exactly what she’s wanted. Though if Kaufman can snag a win at Invicta FC 5 she’ll be building a solid case to get her rematch with Rousey. Should be fun to watch!
