At UFC on Fox 7
, there are only two fights that are being heavily promoted. Benson Henderson Vs. Gilbert Melendez and Daniel Cormier Vs. Frank Mir. Why is nobody talking about the Nate Diaz Vs. Josh Thomson match up? This is a fantastic fight and truly has the potential to be a fight of the night winner.

Stylistically they pair up extremely well with each other.  Even though Thomson is one of the most underrated lightweight fighters on the planet, his trilogy bouts with Gilbert Melendez helped define Strikeforce and produced some of the betters bouts in the history of the organization. Nate Diaz has always been a great fighter and he continues to provide high quality moments for his career;  Like his fights with Takanori Gomi, Donald Cerrone, and Jim Miller.

In this fight, we will see two fighters trying to stay relevant in one of the most packed divisions in the UFC. Nate’s last fight was with Benson Henderson and it was for the UFC Lightweight Championship. For Diaz, this fight is all about preventing a two fight losing streak and picking up some lost momentum. A win over Thomson allows him the opportunity to gain more high quality opposition in the future.

For Josh Thomson, this is about making a statement in his UFC debut. In defeating Nate Diaz, he is able to beat one of the last contenders that fought for the belt and a victory will open up a chance for him to climb the ladder for a title shot of his own.

Both of these fighters are complete mixed martial artists and this fight could steal the show. Nate’s boxing and Jiu-Jitsu is some of the best in the division. He always prays on the psychology of his opponent, just like his brother, Nick Diaz. He comes off as brash and unafraid to speak his mind in the middle of the fight.

UFC on Fox 7 has the ability to be a great overall event for the UFC. Before the main and co-main event though, there will already be a fight that fans will be talking about for some time: Diaz Vs. Thomson.
